Dark Souls is only insanely hard you you just rush right thurogh it. It is designed to punish those who do not learn how to play the game themselves. Dark Souls doesn't even tell the player how to play the game. Same with Demon's Souls. To me i find both games to be challenging not too hard. Most of my deaths come from me being too careless. The toughest boss battle i've faced so far is battling 2 bosses at the same time. You kill one, the other will absorb the power of the one you killed and become even more powerful and he even regains his health back and he is a lot tougher to kill.Vanqu and El Shaddai shows that challenge and complexity come from the player's own dexterity and reflexes. If you just play Vanquish like a normal shooter (taking cover all the time) then you're not gonna get any challenge from it. The way i play Vanquish is that i never take any cover, face those enemies head on and eat those bullets.
